In 2014, UECCC put in place a power connection loan which enables households and commercial enterprises to access electricity by connecting to the grid.
This programme addresses the affordability barrier arising from the upfront electricity connection costs including wiring of premises, payment for electricity poles, conversion costs from diesel operated systems to electricity and connection fees charged by the Utility Company.
UECCC initially piloted this innovative connection loan product with Centenary Bank and West Nile Rural Electrification Company (WENRECO) with a distribution network in the West Nile region.
On account of a successful pilot, the facility was subsequently rolled out across the Country. Currently the facility is available at all Centenary Bank branches. UECCC is in the process of identifying additional participating financial institutions to provide this facility.
For more details on how to access this facility, please visit any Centenary Bank branch.
